The Cannonball Run Club was formed in Bromley, Kent in 1990.  There are now three or four Cannonball events every year. 

The main Cannonball Run takes place around April/May.  All events start at a suitable location that is within easy access from Junction 4 of the M25.

You will be given a destination that you have to reach as quickly as possible (without breaking the law, of course).  When you reach this destination (checkpoint) you will be given another destination and off you go again, thereby making a motor journey from point A to point E, via points B, C and D.  First (and fastest) one to finish wins.  Nothing to it really.  As a guide, A might be Bromley, B Chertsea, C Guildford, D Swindon and E Portsmouth.  Normally, you can expect to be driving (quickly) for about 4 hours by car, van, MPV, truck or motorcycle.  

At the end of it all, you and your friends will stay overnight at a hotel selected by the organisers and participate in a marathon drinking and dancing session to celebrate your win or to drown your losing sorrows.  The winners can expect to walk away with a cash prize and a trophy to mark the win – all for about £35-£40 entrance fee plus the cost of the hotel room and any petrol/diesel used.  Immeasurable in financial terms is the thrill and pleasure you will get from taking part and an unforgettable memory (ask anyone who’s been over the last 17 years). 

On Sunday morning, after breakfast (if you can stomach it after all that booze) you will head off home.  The entry fee is currently £37.00 per car with bed and breakfast being around £35.00 to £45.00 per person.
